Would’ve been better if they were horizontal, but this is obviously a way to keep the box as small as possible, as this requires assembly. Copper color philips flat screw heads are exposed at the sides, and the backer is in 3 panels taped together so the panels can easily be extended to a full size panel for the back of the shelf, but only drawback is the seams are vertical. This isn’t that nice if used as a piece of furniture. My location fit perfectly, wedged within a niche under my counter. I didn’t install one shelf or the backing, because I didn’t need to, and yet it seems pretty stable, although I would add the backer if it was freestanding.

Product seemed like it was used, arrived with an imperfect finish edge, and a slight dent that cracked the laminate slightly, but this was for under counter storage, and it works perfectly.
